Scissor Lifts

Versatile Solution
Electric Scissor Lifts, reaching heights up to 50 feet, are versatile solutions ideal for construction sites, maintenance tasks, and various industrial, retail, and warehousing operations.
Designed to accommodate multiple workers simultaneously, these lifts are most effective on smooth, solid surfaces and are equipped with non-marking tires.

Benefits of Electric Scissor Lifts
Our range of Scissor Lifts ensures quiet and environmentally-friendly operation across diverse environments.
They feature a narrow width that allows easy passage through standard doorways, tight aisles, and elevators, even while fully extended.
By choosing our lifts, you benefit from reduced maintenance schedules, a quieter working environment, decreased reliance on hydraulic oils, and zero emissions.

Innovative controls & Compact Dimensions
In addition to their practical design, our Scissor Lifts boast innovative operator controls and compact dimensions, enhancing their manoeuvrability and usability on job sites.

Frequently Ask Question
What is a scissor lift and how does it work?
A scissor lift is a type of aerial work platform that raises workers and materials vertically using a linked, folding cross-brace mechanism, similar in shape to a pair of scissors. An electric or hydraulic system extends the scissor arms upward, elevating the platform to the required working height. Unlike boom lifts, scissor lifts move only vertically and are designed for stable, flat surfaces.
What platform heights do your scissor lifts reach?
Our electric scissor lifts reach working heights of up to 50 feet (approximately 15 metres). Available platform heights vary by model, our team can match the right unit to your specific working height requirement.
What is the difference between a scissor lift and a boom lift?
A scissor lift raises its platform straight up and is best suited for work directly above the machine on flat, stable surfaces. A boom lift has an extendable and articulating arm that can reach out horizontally as well as vertically, allowing access to areas that are not directly above the machine. Scissor lifts are generally more compact and cost-effective for straightforward vertical access, while boom lifts offer greater reach flexibility for complex or obstructed work areas.
Are your scissor lifts suitable for indoor use?
Yes. Our electric scissor lifts produce zero direct emissions and operate quietly, making them well suited for indoor environments including warehouses, factories, retail spaces, and facilities with strict ventilation or noise requirements. They are fitted with non-marking tyres to protect finished floors.
Can scissor lifts be used outdoors?
Electric scissor lifts are primarily designed for smooth, solid indoor surfaces. Some models with larger tyres and enhanced ground clearance can operate on firm, level outdoor surfaces. They are not suitable for rough terrain, soft ground, or significant gradients. For outdoor or uneven terrain applications, a rough terrain boom lift or telescopic boom lift is typically more appropriate.
How many workers can be on the platform at once?
Platform capacity varies by model. Most of our scissor lifts are designed to accommodate multiple workers simultaneously along with their tools and materials, within the rated working load. Always check the rated platform capacity before use and never exceed it.
Do I need a licence to operate a scissor lift in Singapore?
Scissor lifts fall under the category of Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs) in Singapore. Operators must be adequately trained and competent in safe MEWP operation in accordance with the Workplace Safety and Health (Work at Heights) Regulations administered by MOM. While a formal licence specific to scissor lifts is not always mandated, employers have a legal duty to ensure operators are trained and assessed as competent before use.
What surfaces can a scissor lift operate on?
Electric scissor lifts perform best on smooth, hard, level surfaces such as concrete or compacted asphalt. The machine must be on a surface capable of bearing its weight, particularly important on upper floors of buildings or raised platforms. Always check the floor load rating before deploying a scissor lift indoors. Non-marking tyres are fitted as standard to protect sensitive floor finishes.
Can I rent a scissor lift instead of buying?
Yes. RR Machinery offers scissor lift rental on daily, weekly, monthly, and long-term yearly terms. Rental is well suited for project-based work, short-duration maintenance tasks, or operations where the frequency of use does not justify ownership. All rental units are delivered ready for use and maintained to operational standard.
How does a scissor lift compare to mobile scaffolding?
A scissor lift offers faster setup, powered elevation, and greater platform stability at height compared to mobile scaffolding. It is the better choice when frequent height adjustment is needed or when the working height exceeds what a standard scaffold tower can safely provide. Mobile scaffolding remains a practical alternative for very tight spaces, areas with low overhead clearance, or locations where a scissor lift cannot be driven in. Our team can advise on which option best fits your specific site conditions.
What maintenance is required for a scissor lift?
Key maintenance tasks include regular checks of the battery and charging system on electric models, hydraulic fluid level and condition, platform safety mechanisms, tyres, and emergency lowering systems. All RR Machinery rental units are maintained on a scheduled basis by our service team. For purchased units, we offer ongoing maintenance contracts and breakdown support.
How do I get a quotation for sale or rental?
Contact our team with your required working height, intended application, site surface type, and whether you need a sale or rental arrangement. We will match you with the right model and provide a clear quotation promptly.
